The Collegium Oecumenicum München is more than just a university student dormitory. It offers spiritual and academic community of Christians to about 50 students from all over the world. The Collegium Oecumenicum provides optimal conditions for studying effectively. There is a theological library, free Internet access and nearby parks invite to exercise. It moved into the areas of LMU and TU München and the museum quarter in September 2018.The Collegium Oecumenicum is part of an international ecumenical network. Studying abroad is easily accessible through exchange programs with universities and seminaries in the USA, Romania and Brazil.
An attractive program of the house organized by the so-called Kollegiat*innen provides inter-disciplinary exchange.
During the semester on Monday evenings the Dies Academicus takes place. Experts from society, church and university present and discuss their research and opinions. The Kollegiat*innen choose the topics of these Dies Academici.There are also optional self-organized groups according to the interests of the Kollegiat*innen.
At the beginning of each semester there is a study trip for a few days. Destinations are either Bavarian cities or cities in European neighboring countries – in the last semesters we travelled to Prague, Amsterdam or Sibiu. There are no additional costs for the study trip.
The spiritual life is an expression of our common faith and an integral part of living together. The semester starts and ends with a worship service. During the semester, there are evening prayers said Sunday through Thursday in the chapel. They are prepared by the students.
There is one wissenschaftliche Tutor*in for all Kollegiat*innen. S*he supports preparing for exams – especially for the exam in ELKB. During the semester an “Examenslerngruppe” is held. S*he proofreads papers and offers a learning group to improve the ability to speak German during the semester.
The rooms in the Collegium Oecumenicum are located next to a Christian hospital. Our building is four storeys high. The sizes of the rooms vary between 10 and 15 sqm. Every room comes with a sink and are furnished with a wardrobe, book shelves, a desk, a chair, a bed and a bedside table. Kitchen, showers and toilets are shared on every floor.
Aditionally the library offers room to study. There are two living rooms and a bar. In near future there will be a cinema room and a sports room.
Eating together builds community. Therefore, the Collegium Oecumenicum offers breakfast and a warm meal every weekday. The second meal can be microwaved whenever it suits best! The kitchen is equipped to respond to various dietary needs.
The Collegium Oecumenicum is located in Maxvorstadt. The LMU is a 10 minute walk away, the TU only 5 minutes. A walk into the city centre takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Also the central train station is within the walking distance of 20 minutes.
By local public transport you can reach us with bus 153/154 (stop Arcisstraße), 56/68/100 (stop Pinakotheken) and subway U2 (stop Theresienstraße, 10 minutes walk) oder U3/U6 (stop Universität, 15 minutes walk).
Fees / Rent
The contribution for a room with half-board is currently 380 € per month. This includes all running costs, half-board as well as the study trip.
